Familiar foe: Rays starter James Shields, who pitched well against the Red Sox on Sunday (71/3 innings, six hits, two runs, two walks, six strikeouts), said he will take the same approach tonight and adjust as needed. He is 3-5 with a 5.17 ERA vs. the Sox and has never won at Fenway (0-4, 9.56 ERA).
And another: Red Sox starter Brad Penny was pretty good against the Rays on Sunday, allowing three runs in six innings while striking out eight. He is 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA vs. the Rays .
