Roberts grounded Mariano Rivera's two-out pitch to first baseman Jason Giambi to record the final out in the history of Yankee Stadium.

"I thought about it," Roberts said of the potential of making the last out. "I didn't want to make the last out. I figured I'd either make the last out or get the first hit or something. I couldn't go wrong. But Mariano is pretty good at getting outs."

Roberts called the excitement surrounding the Yankees' 7-3 win an "amazing atmosphere," and suggested he was happy to be taking the historic bat home with him.

Roberts finished the game 1-for-5, with a run scored and a stolen base. He also made two highlight-worthy defensive plays at second base.
