Baltimore Orioles Notes, Quotes 2008-09-18
--RHP Daniel Cabrera will be scratched from Friday's scheduled start in New York. Cabrera will undergo an exam to find a reason for the tingling feeling in his right elbow. RHP Radhames Liz will pitch Friday, and the remainder of the rotation for the final series in Yankee Stadium is undetermined.

--1B Aubrey Huff hit his 32nd home run of the season Wednesday, a two-run shot in the Orioles' five-run fifth inning. Huff is now two home runs and one RBI from tying his career highs -- both set in 2003.

--2B Brian Roberts hit his 49th double of the season Wednesday. Roberts needs one more for his second 50-double season, while teammates Aubrey Huff (48) and Nick Markakis (47) are close to forming the first trio of teammates in big league history to each reach 50 doubles.

--RHP Dennis Sarfate was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday. Sarfate was listed as having a right distal clavicle fracture, which he reportedly suffered while moving into his home this spring. Sarfate, 27, had been playing through the injury all season.

--INF Oscar Salazar started for the fourth consecutive game Wednesday, hitting a double in four at-bats as designated hitter. Salazar entered Wednesday with three home runs and six RBIs in his last three games, and he went 1-for-4 with a double.

--OF Lou Montanez started in left field Wednesday, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Montanez figures to get plenty of starts in the outfield with the season winding down. The Orioles plan to send the raw defender to a winter league to work on his defense.

BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Players who could reach 50 doubles this season. Through Sept. 14, DH Aubrey Huff had 48, 2B Brian Roberts had 47 and RF Nick Markakis had 45.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I know the difference between pain and being sore. But when you are this old and you throw for this long, you deal with it. You go on any pitcher this age and something is going to be wrong, probably. But I have no excuses." -- LHP Jamie Walker, to The Sun, in regards to his struggles this season and the elbow inflammation that sidelined him in the second half.
