--RHP Jeremy Guthrie will not start in Tuesday's doubleheader. The staff ace is on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement and potentially could throw in the season's final series, but it would be only a brief start.
--RHP Alfredo Simon will start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Tampa Bay. Simon, who has an 8.10 ERA in 3 1/3 innings spanning two games, is starting in place of RHP Jeremy Guthrie. --RHP Radhames Liz will start the fourth game of the series with Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Liz is aiming for his seventh win of the season, although he is 1-3 with a 6.04 ERA in his last four starts.
--OF Adam Jones isn't playing hurt, according to manager Dave Trembley. He's just rusty. Jones is getting back into baseball shape after suffering a broken left foot in early August. He's noticeably less explosive in pursuit of flyballs in center field.
--2B Brian Roberts set a career high Saturday with his 51st double of the season. Roberts hit 50 doubles in 2004, and he could be joined by DH Aubrey Huff (48) and OF Nick Markakis (47) as the first trio of teammates in baseball history to hit 50 doubles in the same season. Roberts got the base and the ball from his 50th double Friday night.
