--3B Melvin Mora told reporters Monday his left leg was too sore for him to start. Mora missed two weeks with a strained hamstring earlier this month, and might be shut down for the season.
--RHP Jeremy Guthrie, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement, threw another side session Monday. Guthrie is expected to throw a simulated game Wednesday before the club evaluates whether he can pitch again this season. --RHP Rocky Cherry took the loss Monday, and his performance lived up to his first name. Despite striking out two, Cherry walked three and gave up a hit in a lone inning of work. Cherry has allowed a run in five of his last seven outings.
--C Matt Wieters, who split the season between Class-A Frederick and Class-AA Bowie, won the Orioles' Brooks Robinson Minor League Player of the Year Award Monday. Wieters batted .345 at Frederick and .365 at Bowie, and hit a combined 27 home runs with 91 RBIs.
--RHP Brad Bergesen, who pitched at both Class-A Frederick and Class-AA Bowie this season, won the Orioles' Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award. Bergesen went a combined 16-7 at the two affiliates, and led the Eastern League with 15 wins, three complete games and two shutouts.
