--INF/OF Billy Rowell, the Orioles' first-round pick in 2006, will move from third base to the outfield with Class A Frederick, The Sun reported Thursday. Rowell's defensive struggles have curtailed the progression of his powerful left-handed bat.
--C Robby Hammock, who was one of the final cuts in spring training, will miss Class AAA Norfolk's opener with an oblique injury. The versatile catcher was placed on the disabled list, according to the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network Web site. --LHP Jamie Walker spent much of spring training working with former Orioles pitcher Mike Cuellar. According to MASNsports.com, Walker adjusted his changeup and picked up a screwball while working with Cuellar.
