--RHP Daniel Cabrera had another quality start, giving up just two runs in seven innings, but came out of the game against the Red Sox with the score tied at 2-2. He gave up the runs in the first inning and blanked Boston for the next six innings.
--DH Aubrey Huff continued his power surge on Friday, hitting his ninth HR of the season and third in his last five games to forge a 2-2 tie in the fourth inning. The home run gave him 30 RBIs, with five of them coming in the last four games. --RF Nick Markakis struggled through the first nine innings as he struck out three times in his first four at bats, the third time in nine games he has fanned three times, upping his total to 52 this season. He came to life with a bloop single in the 10th and a double in the 12th inning.
--SS Freddie Bynum had two hits in a game for the first time since May 9 and got his first stolen base of the season after the second one. In his previous four starts, Bynum had gone 0-for-12.
--3B Melvin Mora had a nightmare of a game, going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts at the plate and he committed two throwing errors in the field, one that triggered a three-run rally in the 13th inning.
--RHP Steve Trachsel (2-5, 8.82) is likely to be skipped on his next scheduled start on Tuesday, according to manager Dave Trembley. The 37-year old was also skipped the last time he was slated to start and has pitched only once since May 9, giving up nine runs in 2 2/3 innings at Tampa Bay on May 24.
