--RHP Dennis Sarfate was placed on the disabled list Sunday with lingering numbness in the middle finger on his pitching hand. Sarfate was unavailable Saturday, and has generally struggled, pitching to a 6.39 ERA in eight appearances, before he left Friday's game abruptly.
--RHP Bob McCrory was recalled from Class AAA Norfolk to take Sarfate's place on the active roster. He joins the club on his 27th birthday having converted nine saves with a 2.25 ERA in nine appearances with the Tides. --OF Lou Montanez injured his right thumb making a diving catch late in Saturday's game. Montanez, who started in two straight games, was held out of Sunday's lineup because of the injury.
BY THE NUMBERS: 1,000 -- Games, through Saturday, that 2B Brian Roberts has played in a Baltimore Orioles uniform. Roberts became the 15th player in club history to reach the milestone.
