--3B Melvin Mora batted in the cleanup spot Thursday for the third time this season. Twins LHP Glenn Perkins joins Yankees LHP C.C. Sabathia and Rays LHP Scott Kazmir as starters who have caused manager Dave Trembley to switch Mora and Aubrey Huff in the order. Mora hit a 432-foot home run in the second inning, his second of the year.
--INF Ty Wigginton made his second start of the season at first base Thursday, as Aubrey Huff moved to designated hitter. Wigginton went 1-for-4. His average is .208 for the season. --LHP Rich Hill will make his next rehab start Sunday with Class AAA Norfolk. Hill's goal is to reach 95 pitches with efficiency, at which point in time the Orioles would consider activating him. Baltimore manager Dave Trembley said Hill is "getting close."
--RHP Chris Ray will throw bullpen sessions every other day to ensure his mechanics remain sharp, according to The Sun. Ray has a 7.56 ERA in 10 appearances, and he could get save opportunities should he rediscover his command.
BY THE NUMBERS: 1,000 -- Games, through May 2, that 2B Brian Roberts had played in a Baltimore Orioles uniform. Roberts became the 15th player in club history to reach the milestone.
