--1B/DH Aubrey Huff earned his ninth start of the season at third base Saturday, filling in for Melvin Mora against Brewers RHP Seth McClung. In interleague road games, Huff will occasionally spell Mora against right-handed pitchers. The upcoming series with the Cubs features at least two right-handed starters.
--LHP Adam Loewen is making a smooth transition from starter to reliever in his minor league rehab. Loewen, 24, has been out of action since April 25 with elbow soreness. He threw one inning for Class AA Bowie in Sunday's loss, allowing an unearned run on three hits. He hasn't allowed an earned run in four appearances with Bowie. --2B Brian Roberts is the lone Oriole in the top five in All-Star balloting at his position. Roberts, who was an All-Star in 2005 and 2007, is roughly 700,000 votes behind leader Dustin Pedroia of Boston.
--RF Nick Markakis is not among the top 15 in votes among American League outfielders. But Markakis, 24, is deserving of recognition. His .283 average and 12 home runs are both second on the team, and his .387 on-base percentage is the best of any Oriole.
--3B Melvin Mora played one game at shortstop this season, shifting over from third base in a late-inning move. But Mora, who has played 195 games at short in his career, is not considered an option to take over at the position, a trouble spot for the Orioles.
