--LHP Jamie Walker made a successful return after missing nearly a month with left elbow inflammation. Walker retired Johnny Damon on a flyout for the final out of the eighth inning.

--RHP Dennis Sarfate will join the Orioles rotation. Sarfate, who has made 45 appearances this year, will make his first career big league start at Yankee Stadium Wednesday.

--LHP Brian Burres was demoted to the bullpen. Burres, who is 7-7 with a 5.37 ERA, will assume a long-relief and situational role with the goal of reclaiming a spot in the starting rotation.

--LHP Alberto Castillo might become expendable whenever the club adds another starting pitcher. With Radhames Liz demoted Sunday, the Orioles will skip a start on Thursday's off day. But when the club recalls another pitcher, Castillo might be the odd man out with LHP Brian Burres now in the bullpen.

--3B Melvin Mora, who did not play Sunday because of a bruise behind his left knee, was back in the lineup and went 1-for-4.
