Baltimore Orioles Notes, Quotes 2008-07-30
--DH Aubrey Huff touched up Mariano Rivera for his 22nd home run of the season. It was just the third time all year the Yankees closer had surrendered a home run. Huff nearly took the perennial All-Star deep earlier in the at-bat, but the ball drifted foul.

--3B Melvin Mora drove in two runs Tuesday, and he has six multi-RBI games since the All-Star break. Mora is batting .326 (28-for-86) with five home runs and 26 RBIs in July.

--RHP Dennis Sarfate, who grew up in Brooklyn, is excited to make his first major league start at Yankee Stadium. The reliever has made 45 appearances this season, and said of his start in New York: "A lot of emotion will be going ... but I'm comfortable with it."

--CF Adam Jones went 0-for-4 Tuesday after he broke out Monday with a grand slam and five RBIs in a 3-for-6 night. Jones has hit in 22 of 28 games, batting .332 (37-for-114) over that stretch.

--C Ramon Hernandez may be motivated by the potential of being traded to a contender. As the trading deadline approaches, Hernandez continues a torrid stretch: He's batting 13-for-34 (.382) with a hit in nine of 10 games since the All-Star break.

BY THE NUMBERS: 15 -- Consecutive Sunday losses for the Orioles before Sunday's 5-2 win over the Angels.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's done. It's dead. Put it to rest. I will not take one question." -- Manager Dave Trembley while smoking a cigar after the Orioles snapped their streak of 15 straight Sunday losses.
