--RF Nick Markakis threw out Jim Thome, who was trying to stretch a single into a double, for the final out in the third inning. It was Markakis' major league-leading 15th outfield assist.
--DH Aubrey Huff hit his team-leading 29th home run, a 395-foot bomb into the right-center field seats. Huff drove in three runs, and is now six away from reaching the century mark. --RHP Daniel Cabrera underwent an MRI on his right elbow Tuesday, and the results came back clean. Cabrera may be able to return by his regular turn in the rotation Saturday in Tampa Bay, depending on how well his arm responds while playing catch Thursday.
--OF Adam Jones will take early batting practice in Tampa Bay on Friday, and perhaps again in the first game of the series at Boston before returning. Jones, who is recovering from a broken left foot, likely will be activated after Sept. 1.
--RHP Jake Arrieta, a prospect with Class A Frederick, was named the Carolina League Pitcher of the Year. Arrieta, 22, is 6-5 with a league-best 2.87 ERA in 20 starts with the Keys.
--RHP Greg Aguino (strained left hamstring) was recalled from a minor league rehab assignment and designated for assignment. Aquino made nine appearances with the Orioles, allowing 13 runs in 9 1/3 innings (12.54 ERA).
BY THE NUMBERS: 7.71 -- RHP Daniel Cabrera's ERA in August, after he allowed seven earned runs in 3 2/3 innings Aug. 24.
