--1B/DH Aubrey Huff is likely to remain with the Orioles through the waiver-trade deadline Sunday. Orioles president Andy MacPhail told The Baltimore Sun that talks are "very quiet right now," increasing the likelihood that Huff would finish the season in Baltimore. In 129 games, he is hitting .307 with 29 home runs and 94 RBIs -- five home runs and 13 RBIs away from career highs.
--LHP Garrett Olson, who was demoted last week but could return when rosters expand, struck out a season-high nine batters in seven innings with Class AAA Norfolk on Wednesday. Olson threw 98 pitches in seven innings. --OF Luis Montanez was named the Eastern League's Most Valuable Player, despite having been recalled to Baltimore three weeks earlier. Montanez continues to lead the Class AA league with the .335 average, 26 home runs and 97 RBIs he posted for Bowie.
--RHP Brad Bergesen, who could be recalled when rosters expand Monday, was named the Eastern League pitcher of the year. Bergesen, 22, is 15-5 with a 3.11 ERA in 21 games for Class AA Bowie, setting a franchise record for wins.
--RHP Greg Aquino was activated from the disabled list Wednesday and was promptly designated for assignment. Aquino had been injured for much of the season, and when healthy, was ineffective.
