Baltimore Orioles Notes, Quotes 2008-08-30
--RHP Jeremy Guthrie experienced some unparalleled control issues, walking a career-high six batters in the 14-3 loss to the Rays. Guthrie walked five batters in two outings -- Aug. 18 and June 12, both against Boston.

--LHP Chris Waters will make Saturday's start for the Orioles. Waters was originally slated to throw Sunday, but moves up a day.

--RHP Chris Ray will not join the Orioles this season. Ray, who underwent ligament transplant surgery on his right elbow last August, will continue his rehab program at short-season Class A Aberdeen and ready himself for spring training, manager Dave Trembley said.

--CF Adam Jones is likely to be activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday. Jones, who is recovering from a broken left foot, told reporters that he'd be ready Monday.

--LHP George Sherrill will not be activated Monday as originally scheduled. Sherrill, who has been out with shoulder inflammation, is "two days" behind his original schedule after experiencing some stiffness in his arm while throwing this week, manager Dave Trembley said.

BY THE NUMBERS: 7.71 -- RHP Daniel Cabrera's ERA in August, after he allowed seven earned runs in 3 2/3 innings Aug. 24.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't know who else we're going to bring in. Goodness sakes, that'd be really reaching for straws there." -- Manager Dave Trembley, when asked if RHP Daniel Cabrera's rotation slot was in jeopardy after another frustrating outing last week.
