--LF Felix Pie entered Monday's opener as a defensive replacement for LF Luke Scott. Pie is likely to start Wednesday, when the Orioles face RHP Chien-Ming Wang.
--C Gregg Zaun isn't expected to provide much offense for the Orioles, but his double in Monday's opener, coupled with a strong defensive effort, are signs as to why the club signed him this winter. He'll start at least five times a week until prospect Matt Wieters is recalled from Class AAA Norfolk.
--RHP Koji Uehara makes his major league debut Wednesday against the Yankees. Uehara, who is the first Japanese player in franchise history, is likely to face a lefty-heavy New York lineup.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Danys Baez (ligament-transplant surgery, right elbow) seems fully recovered and will factor into the Orioles bullpen. He'll be more of a long reliever than a short, power arm.
LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He might return in mid-April.
LHP John Parrish (small tear in left shoulder) will not pitch in 2009. He was in camp on a minor league contract.
