--RHP Dennis Sarfate was knocked around for two runs in only two-thirds of an inning. Sarfate, who will pitch primarily in the sixth and seventh innings, walked two and gave up a home run to Derek Jeter as his ERA ballooned to 13.50.
--LF Felix Pie made his first Orioles start in left field Wednesday. He went 0-for-3 with a run and a walk as the No. 7 hitter.
--OF Luke Scott served as the designated hitter Wednesday, after having gone on record saying he is less comfortable at the plate when he's not playing in the field. Scott went 1-for-4 and scored a run.
--1B Aubrey Huff climbed a spot in the batting order to fourth Wednesday, flip-flopping with 3B Melvin Mora from manager Dave Trembley's opening-day lineup. Huff walked twice and drove in his fourth run of the season.
MEDICAL WATCH:
RHP Danys Baez (ligament-transplant surgery, right elbow) seems fully recovered and will factor into the Orioles bullpen. He'll be more of a long reliever than a short, power arm.
LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He might return in mid-April.
LHP John Parrish (small tear in left shoulder) will not pitch in 2009. He was in camp on a minor league contract.
