--3B Melvin Mora returned to the lineup Friday after missing Thursday's game because of a sore hamstring. Mora, who was held out of the series finale with the Yankees as a precaution, went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the series opener with Tampa Bay.
--RF Nick Markakis recorded his first outfield assist of the season Friday, throwing out Rays speedster Carl Crawford at third base. Markakis, 25, led the major leagues with 17 outfield assists in 2008. He added his team-best sixth RBI to the winning attack, too.
--LHP Mark Hendrickson told manager Dave Trembley he had nothing left in the tank after his 91-pitch outing Friday. In his first season with the Orioles, Hendrickson scattered six hits and one run in 5 1/3 innings to earn the victory.
--INF/OF Ryan Freel earned his first start with the Orioles Friday, becoming the third player to start in left field. Freel, who followed Luke Scott and Felix Pie as starters in left, went 0-for-3 with a walk.
