--RHP Radhames Liz was recalled from Class AAA Norfolk to replace RHP Alfredo Simon, whose sore right elbow required a trip to the disabled list. In two relief appearances for Norfolk spanning 3 1/3 innings, Liz had a 0.00 ERA with four strikeouts. He allowed four runs in one inning against Texas on Wednesday night. Manager Dave Trembley said Simon "is not going to be able to pitch for a while."

--RHP Matt Albers replaced injured 3B Melvin Mora on the active roster Wednesday. Mora was placed on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, and Albers -- who was demoted April 11 -- becomes the club's 13th pitcher. He allowed four runs in 1 1/3 innings Wednesday, as the club plans to use him in relief.

--C Chad Moeller continues to perform when called upon. The backup catcher homered Wednesday and is batting .364 in limited appearances.

MEDICAL WATCH:

RHP Alfredo Simon (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. More tests were planned, but manager Dave Trembley said Simon "is not going to be able to pitch for a while."

3B Melvin Mora (left hamstring strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 13.

LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He was scheduled to pitch in extended spring training on April 17 and April 19.
