The Orioles made the switch from a 12-man pitching staff to a 13-man unit when Melvin Mora (hamstring) landed on the disabled list. Manager Dave Trembley has plenty of options out of the bullpen, albeit it only two from the left-hand side. The bench is thinner with Ty Wigginton filling in as the full-time third baseman.
PLAYER NEWS: --CF Adam Jones was not in the lineup Monday, the first time he hasn't started this year. Jones, nursing a tight right hamstring, likely will return to action Tuesday, MLB.com reported.
--INF/OF Ryan Freel was hit in the head by a Justin Masterson pickoff throw while diving back into second base Monday. Freel, known for his hard style of play, was face down on the infield dirt for several minutes before leaving the game with the help of the Orioles' training staff. Freel, who was making his first start at third base this year, was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
--INF Robert Andino replaced Ryan Freel as a pinch runner and took over as the third baseman after Freel was injured Monday. Andino, who went 0-for-3 with a run scored, had just one inning of experience as a third baseman, coming in 2008 with the Marlins.
--OF Felix Pie made his first Orioles start in center field, filling in for injured starter Adam Jones and going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. Pie is a natural center fielder, and played most of Sunday's game there after replacing Jones.
MEDICAL WATCH:
CF Adam Jones (right hamstring) did not start April 20 but is expected back April 21.

RHP Alfredo Simon (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He has a "degenerative issue," according to manager Dave Trembley, and he will be sidelined indefinitely.
3B Melvin Mora (left hamstring strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 13.
LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He was scheduled to pitch in extended spring training on April 17 and April 19.
