--3B Melvin Mora will report to Class AAA Norfolk on Tuesday for a brief rehab stint. Mora, on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, will play six innings for the Tides and return Friday when the Orioles open a three-game series in Toronto.

--RHP Brian Bass is unlikely to be demoted Friday when Melvin Mora returns from an injury. Bass is out of options. Also, Bass has put together 7 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.

--LHP Rich Hill will throw 50-to-60 pitches at Class AAA Norfolk on Wednesday night. He'll need to reach 90 pitches in an outing before the Orioles activate him from the disabled list.

--OF/INF Ryan Freel began his rehab assignment Monday night at Class A Delmarva.

MEDICAL WATCH:

3B Melvin Mora (left hamstring strain) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 13. He will begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Norfolk on April 28.

OF/INF Ryan Freel (head) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21 after being hit in the head by a pickoff throw the previous day.

RHP Alfredo Simon (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He will have season-ending Tommy John surgery in late April.

LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Frederick on April 24.
