--RF Nick Markakis was unable to set a new career-best by extending his hitting streak to 18 games Saturday. He did walk twice, though, to continue his big league-best 33 straight games reaching base, which moved to 34 straight Sunday with a 1-for-4 game.

--RHP Jeremy Guthrie gave the Orioles eight innings, but was hit with his second loss. Guthrie allowed four earned runs on six hits, including two home runs, but salvaged the bullpen with 110 pitches.

MEDICAL WATCH:

OF Lou Montanez (sore right thumb) was injured making a catch May 2 and sat out on May 3.

RHP Dennis Sarfate (numbness in right middle finger) left the May 1 game, and he was unavailable May 2. On May 3, he was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

OF/INF Ryan Freel (head) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21 after being hit in the head by a pickoff throw the previous day. He was expected start a rehab assignment with Class A Delmarva on May 1.

RHP Alfredo Simon (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He will have season-ending Tommy John surgery.

LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Frederick on April 24.
