--RF Nick Markakis ended a streak of 35 consecutive games reaching base with an 0-for-4 afternoon Tuesday. Markakis left two runners on base in just his fourth hitless game this season.

--2B Brian Roberts homered for the second straight game, driving in two runs with the third-inning blast. It was the fourth homer of the season for Roberts, who hit nine last season.

--SS Robert Andino started Tuesday afternoon as veteran Cesar Izturis was given a rest. The former Marlins prospect went 0-for-3, with his average falling from .375 to .316.

MEDICAL WATCH:

OF Lou Montanez (sore right thumb) was injured making a catch May 2 and sat out May 3-5.

RHP Dennis Sarfate (numbness in right middle finger) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 2.

OF/INF Ryan Freel (head) went on the 15-day disabled list April 21 after being hit in the head by a pickoff throw the previous day. He began a rehab assignment with Class AA Bowie on May 1.

RHP Alfredo Simon (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He will have season-ending Tommy John surgery.

LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He began a rehab assignment with Class A Frederick on April 24.
