--SS Cesar Izturis struggled in his second straight day as the No. 2 hitter. One day after going 3-for-5, Izturis struck out three times against Royals ace RHP Zack Greinke.
--INF Robert Andino pinch-hit for 3B Melvin Mora in the eighth inning and took the veteran's place in the field. The reserve shortstop struck out in his lone at bat after Mora singled in three trips. --1B Aubrey Huff has a hit in six straight games and has warmed up in May. Huff raised his average 12 points while driving in 14 runs in 14 games after knocking in 19 in April.
--OF Adam Jones was out of the lineup for a second straight game after straining his right hamstring Wednesday. Jones again was replaced by Felix Pie in center field, with Izturis filling in Jones' No. 2 slot in the order.
MEDICAL WATCH:
OF Adam Jones (strained right hamstring) left the May 13 game, and he didn't play May 14 or 15.
DH Luke Scott (left rotator cuff sprain) left the May 10 game, and he didn't play May 12-15. He might return during the weekend series at Kansas City.
LHP Rich Hill (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list March 29. He made the first of four minor league rehab starts on April 24, and he will be activated to start the game on May 16.
RHP Dennis Sarfate (torn artery in right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 2. He might be able to return around the All-Star break.
RHP Alfredo Simon (sore right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list April 15. He had season-ending Tommy John surgery in early May.
