LHP George Sherrill (left shoulder inflammation) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 16. He played catch Aug. 26, and he pitched a simulated game Sept. 10. He was activated Sept. 11.

RHP Jeremy Guthrie (tired arm) missed his Sept. 3 start and then was scratched from his Sept. 9 start because of the flu. He was penciled in for Sept. 13, but that start was postponed, too, as manager Dave Trembley wanted to see him throw a full side session before he returns.

RHP Jim Johnson (right shoulder inflammation) hasn't pitched since Aug. 31. He went on the 15-day disabled list Sept. 8, and he has been shut down for the season.

RHP Matt Albers (sore right shoulder) went on the 15-day disabled list June 26, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on Aug. 20. An MRI revealed a torn labrum, but he has attempted to rehab the shoulder without surgery. He threw fastballs and changeups off a mound in mid-August. He rehabbed with the team in early September, but he will not be activated this season.

RHP Chris Ray (Tommy John surgery in August 2007) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list. He will miss all of the 2008 season. He began a minor league rehab assignment in late August.

LHP Troy Patton (torn labrum in left shoulder) had season-ending surgery March 18. He opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 8. He is expected to throw his first bullpen session Sept. 8 in Houston, where he lives.

RHP Danys Baez (Tommy John surgery in September 2007) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on July 1. He likely will miss the entire 2008 season.

LHP Adam Loewen (left elbow soreness) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to July 7, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on Aug. 5. He announced July 19 that he would attempt to come back next season as a position player.

RHP Jim Hoey (right shoulder soreness) opened the season on the 15-day disabled list, and he was transferred to the 60-day DL on Aug. 5. He had season-ending surgery May 4.
