 The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have claimed LHP Brian Burres off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. BURRES, 28, posted a 7-10 record with a 6.04 ERA in 31 games (22 starts) for the Baltimore Orioles this past season. The 6-1, 175 lb lefthander has spent all three seasons of his major league career with the Orioles, recording a 13-18 mark, with a 5.88 ERA. The Oregon City, Oregon native is 44-27 with a 3.26 ERA over parts of eight minor league seasons, all in the Baltimore system. To make room on the 40-man roster C CURTIS THIGPEN has been designated for assignment.
