Last week, the New York Yankees agreed to pay Mark Teixeira $180 million over an eight-year contract. Other teams, including the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles, had tried to sign the first baseman and top position player in this year's free agent market. But Andy MacPhail, Orioles' head of Baseball operations, said, "But at the end of the day, it was just too much to pay for one player."
