Millar, who spent the past six seasons with the Red Sox and Orioles, has reached agreement with the Blue Jays on a minor-league contract, according to a major-league source.
The Jays will use Millar as a right-handed hitting first baseman and designated hitter. Jays first baseman Lyle Overbay is a left-handed hitter, as are Adam Lind and Travis Snider, two young players who figure to alternate between left field and DH.
Millar, 37, batted ..234 for the Orioles last season with a .323 on-base percentage, 20 homers and 72 RBIs. Though his offensive percentages have declined in each of the past two seasons, he had more homers and RBIs in that span than Overbay, who missed five weeks in 2007 with a broken right hand.
Over his 11-year career, Millar's batting average/on-base/slugging line is ..277/.361/.457.
